Box 26, St. Mary's City 20686 Telephone: 994-0779 The St. Mary's City Commission was created by Chapter 115, Acts of 1966, to replace the St. Mary's City Restoration Study Commission which had been appointed by the Governor in 1965 (Res. No. 41, Acts of 1965). The Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Gov- ernor for five-year terms. Two of the Commissioners must be residents of St. Mary's County and not fewer than five must be residents of the State of Maryland. The Commissioners are selected on the basis of ability, public spirit, and historical and professional interest. The Commission selects its own Chairman and the Director serves as its Secretary as well as its Executive Secretary. The St. Mary's City Commission was created to preserve, develop and maintain St. Mary's City, the colonial capital of Maryland. More specifically, the Commission has responsibility for the replica of the State House in that city. The Commission also may acquire property necessary for the proper use and administration of St. Mary's City and its environs. The Commission reports annually to the Governor and the General Assembly as to its activities during the preceding year (Code 1957, 1965 Repl. Vol., 1967 Supp., Art. 41, sees. 365-374). Young, Executive Director, Regional Planning Council Representing the Governor's Office: Vladimir Wahbe; represent- ing the Mayor of Baltimore, William Boucher III; representing the County Executive of Anne Arundel County, Joseph Charles Jacobs; representing the County Executive of Baltimore County, William E. Fornoff; representing the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Clayton S. Steele; representing the Chairman- Director of the State Roads Commission, Walter J. Addison. The Governor appointed this Committee in 1967 from representa- tives of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, and State agencies to secure the fullest possible cooperation of the subdivisions, the State, and other responsible agencies as the mass transit system for metropolitan Baltimore is being developed.
