The Board, which is composed of leaders in the business, industrial, academic, profes- sional, cultural, and governmental fields, grew out of the Maryland Science-Industry Conference held on May 24, 1961. The Board is to develop a stimulating science-industry climate in Maryland in order to provide employment opportunities and services required by a growing population. Thompson 827 South Salisbury Boulevard, Salisbury 21801 Telephone: 742-7143 The Delmarva Advisory Council, originally called the Delmarva Steering Committee, was recommended at the Delmarva Development meeting held in Salisbury on December 3, 1963. The meeting was attended by the Governors and representatives of Maryland, Dela- ware and Virginia. As a result of this meeting, the Council was estab- lished in 1964 to advance the economic and cultural welfare of the people of the Delmarva Peninsula through advice, counsel and assist- ance to such government agencies and private organizations as are concerned with programs and activities to develop the resources and economic activities of the area. The Council consists of fifteen mem- bers with five from each of the three States and several advisory members. Council members serve for three-year terms.
