Department of Horticulture, University of Maryland, College Park 20742 Telephone: Warfield 7-3800 At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor created this permanent Committee in 1969 to develop and recommend standards to insure that out-of-state farm laborers shall be imported, main- tained, and employed in Maryland under satisfactory conditions of housing, sanitation, health, and welfare. The Legislature specified the following membership for the Committee: the Commissioner of Health; the Director of the State Department of Welfare; the State Superintendent of Schools; the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry; the Executive Director of the Department of Employment Security; the Director of the Agricultural Extension Service, University of Maryland; the Superintendent of Maryland State Police; the Executive Secretary of the Maryland-Delaware Council of Churches; a representative of the Catholic Rural Life Con- ference; the Executive Secretary of the Tri-State Packers Associa- tion; the Secretary of the Maryland Farm Bureau, Inc.; the Secre- tary of the Maryland State Grange; the Presidents of the Maryland State Fruit and Vegetable Growers' Associations; and the Secretary- Treasurer of the Maryland State and District of Columbia A.F.L.- C.I.O.
