The_ Governor appointed the Susquehanna State Park Advisory
Committee in 1960. It advises the Department of Forests and Parks
in the acquisition of land for the Susquehanna State Park, and its
development.

The State War Ballot Commission was created by Chapter 3, Acts
of the Special Session held July 27, 1950, when the State's wartime
Absentee Voting Law was re-enacted. The Commission is composed of
the Governor, the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, the pre-
siding officer of each House of the General Assembly, the Minority
Leader of each House of the General Assembly, ex officio, and two
persons, who are not members of the same political party, appointed
by the Governor. The Commission administers the Absentee Voting
Law. To carry out its provisions, the Commission may make necessary
regulations and provide assistance to the local election boards (Code
1957, Art. 33, sec. 260).

WASHINGTON CEMETERY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Washington Cemetery Trustees were chartered by Chapter
213, Acts of 1870. The three Trustees, appointed by the Governor for
three-year terms, are responsible for the maintenance of Washington
Cemetery, Hagerstown, where the Confederate dead of the battles of
Antietam and South Mountain are interred.
