The Sundry Claims Board was established by Chapter 440,
Acts of 1961 to administer claims filed by any prisoner in the
Patuxent Institution, or in the Maryland Penitentiary, the
Maryland House of Correction or any other institution under
the supervision of the Board of Correction, who has been in-
jured in the scope of his employment at such institution while
working for compensation. The Board consists of the Attorney
General of Maryland, or his representative, the Comptroller
of the Treasury, or his representative, and the Director of the
Department of Budget and Procurement, or his representative.
The Governor designates one of the members to be the Chair-
man and another to be the Secretary of the Board (Code 1957,
1961 Supp., Art. 41, sec. 188A).

The Governor appointed this Advisory Committee in 1961
at the request of Delegate Roy N. Staten of Baltimore County
to advise the Hospital Council of Maryland and the State
Planning Department in determining the necessity for a fully
accredited general hospital to be located in the southeast
section of Baltimore County.

CONSTRUCTING AN AMPHITHEATER IN MARYLAND

The Governor appointed this Commission in 1961 upon the
recommendation of the Maryland Historic Drama Committee
to study the feasibility of constructing an amphitheater in
Maryland together with the possibility of utilizing a portion
of the Sandy Point State Park for that purpose.
