vationist of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, and two Soil Conser-
vation District Supervisors appointed by the State Board of Agri-
culture for a one-year term. The Committee selects its officers and
its duties include (1) rendering assistance to the supervisors of the
several soil conservation districts, (2) providing information about
the experiences and activities of the several districts, (3) coordinat-
ing the programs of the districts, (4) securing cooperation of the
various Federal and State agencies in the work of the districts, (6)
disseminating information pertaining to soil conservation throughout
the State, and (6) organizing new soil conservation districts where
advisable. It has organized soil conservation districts in all counties
of the State except Talbot (Code 1961, Art. 66C, sec. 91).

The Maryland State Fair Board consists of nine members appointed
by the Governor for three-year terms. The Board encourages and
fosters agriculture through the promotion and assistance of bona fide
agricultural fairs and exhibits. It extends financial assistance to
qualifying organizations for premium awards to exhibitors of agri-
cultural displays (Code 1951, Art. 66C, secs. 61-63).

The Inspector of Tobacco, an office established in 1888, is appointed
by the Governor and serves at his pleasure. He must be a resident of
one of the tobacco growing counties and a tobacco grower or a duly
qualified tobacco dealer. The Inspector of Tobacco inspects and
grades tobacco grown, sold, or stored within the State of Maryland.
He also supervises the State Tobacco Warehouse and all property
connected therewith in the City of Baltimore (Code 1951, Art. 48,
secs. 9-48).
