Baltimore's Port—In 1955 the port handled 15,458,134 long tons of
imports and 7,368,750 long tons of exports. In total tonnage, Bal-
timore ranks as the second port in the country. Chief imports are
ores, oil, fertilizer, sugar; exports are grain, coal and metal
products.

Hagerstown, 36,260; Frederick, 18,142; Annapolis, 17,963 (includ-
ing area annexed in 1950 but excluding the United States Naval

10,351.
