SENATE

PAUL J. BAILEY, Republican, St. Mary's County; born in Washing-
ton, D. C., October 30, 1905. He attended the public schools of the
District of Columbia and the Washington College of Law, graduating
in 1933; he is a member of the Bar of Maryland and the District of
Columbia and also a professional musician. Former member U. S.
Navy Band. He is a former Justice of the Peace and former member
of the Republican State Central Committee. Member of Legislative
Council. Elected to the Senate in 1946.

HUBERT P. BARTON, Democrat, Baltimore 2nd; born in Sterling
City, Texas, December 18, 1900. He has resided in Baltimore since
1919. Attended the Johns Hopkins University, graduating in 1924;
did graduate work in economics at Harvard and New York Uni-
versity. Served in the Army of the United States 1942-1946 as a
Major. Engaged in the automobile accessories business. Unmarried.
Elected to the Senate in 1946.

EDGAR T. BENNETT, Republican, Wicomico County, born at Mardela
Springs, April 20, 1905, attended public schools at Mardela Springs,
Beacom Business College and the Wharton School of Finance. Vice
President and General Manager, Red Star Lines, Inc. Chairman,
Wicomico County Republican State Central Committee, 1948-1952;
Chairman, Wicomico County Liquor Control Board, 1935-1939; mem-
ber of the Board of Managers of Eastern Shore State Hospital, April
to June 1949; President, Eastern Shore Bus Operators Association,
1952-53; President Eastern Shore Shrine Club, 1950-51; Director of
Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, 1948-1951; member of Lions, Elks,
Masons, Shriners. Married. Appointed to the Senate in 1952.

OMAR D. CROTHERS, JR., Democrat, Cecil County; born in Elkton,
March 7, 1909. Attended the public schools of Elkton, the University
of Maryland, graduating in 1929, and the University of Maryland
