Chapter 504 of the Acts of 1941 segregated the State Accident Fund from
the State Industrial Accident Commission and created an agency composed
of five members appointed by the Governor, first appointments shall be for
the terms of one, two, three, four and five years from June 1, 1941. There-
after for the terms of five years. The said Commissioners shall elect annually
their Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary.

This agency is the State's Workmen's Compensation Insurance carrier and
originated with the State Industrial Accident Commission for the purpose of
protecting employers and employees alike, from the hazards of industrial
accidents.

The State Accident Fund is one of the largest writers of Workmen's
Compensation Insurance in the State of Maryland.
