MARYLAND MANUAL 105

The Maryland Commission to consist of three members, one of
whom shall be the Commission of Conservation; one of whom shall
be a member of the Legislature and a member of the Commission on
Interstate Cooperation and the third member shall be appointed by
the Governor. The member so appointed by the Governor must be
with the advice and consent of the Senate. The term of the inember
appointed by the Governor shall be for three years from June 1, 1941.
The sum of $700.00 is hereby appropriated for the expenses of the
Commission created by this Act.

SOIL EROSION COMMISSION

In a Joint Resolution of the General Assembly, 1941, the Governor
was requested to appoint a Soil Erosion Commission, to consist of not
more than five persons to make a survey and investigation as to the
feasibility and cost to the State of entering upon a comprehensive
program of protecting the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the
other bodies of tidewater and of the several rivers from further
erosion.

The Commission shall have the right and power to call upon the
Conservation Commission, the State Roads Commission, and other
departments of the State Government to aid in making the investi-
gation and survey, including the right to use the vessels of the Con-
servation Commission, when necessary.

It is also provided that the Commission shall have the right to em-
ploy, with the approval of the Governor, such persons as it may deem
necessary to carry on such survey, the compensation of such person
or persons and the expenses of the Commission to be paid out of any
funds which may be contained in the State budget and made available
for this purpose by the Governor and the Board of Public Works

180 of the Acts of 1910, effective April 5, 1910.
