The Governor appoints five, one annually, for a term of five years.
Two shall be residents of Baltimore City and three residents of the
counties. (Ch. 179,1902.)
This Board is for the purpose of examining all candidates that
might present themselves for an examination as Pharmacists.
The Board keeps a record of all registered Pharmacists and reg-
istered Assistant Pharmacists of Maryland.
The members of the State Board of Pharmacy and the duly author-
ized agents and employees of the State Department of Health, have
the power to inspect in a lawful manner every prescription compounded
or dispensed at any pharmacy or drag store and or medicines, drugs,
drug products or domestic remedies and to fully inspect any pharmacy
or other place where medicines or drugs, drug products or domestic
remedies are compounded or exposed for sale. Druggists and pharm-
acists are required to keep in their places of business a suitable book
or file in which shall be preserved for a period of not less than five
years every prescription compounded or dispensed at said drug store
or pharmacy.
The Poisons Law confers many powers and duties upon the Board.
Under the Pharmacy Act, the Board is authorized to issue permits
to pharmacies and to manufacturers of drugs, medicines, toilet arti-
cles, dentifrices, and cosmetics. The Board is required to prescribe
the technical and scientific apparatus and equipment which a drug
store must possess. Wide powers of inspection and regulation are
vested in the Board.
Any information pertaining to pharmacy in Maryland should be
addressed to the Secretary of the Board, who can supply a copy of
any pharmacy law of Maryland.

The Governor appoints, for a term of two years from the first day
in May, three skilled plumbers of Baltimore City, who, with the Com-
missioner of Health of Baltimore City and one member of the State
Board of Health, comprise the Board. (Ch. 436, 1910.)
The law of Maryland requires that those who may desire to engage
in or work at plumbing shall first secure a certificate of their com-
petency. It is the duty of this Board to examine those so engaged and
to ascertain whether or not they are entitled to a certificate.
The office of the Board is open daily from 9:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M.
and on Saturday from 9:00 A. M. to 12:00 noon. Meetings are held
twice a week. The renewing and issuing of certificates is from Feb-
ruary 1st to June 1st.
