The Maryland Workshop for the Blind, located at 601 N. Fulton
Ave., Baltimore, was founded by an Act of the Legislature of 1908,
Chapter 666.

It is governed by a Board of Directors, three members of which
are appointed by the Governor and two by the Board of Directors of
the Maryland School for the Blind.

The Board elects its chairman and treasurer from its own mem-
bership and is empowered to hire a secretary and other necessary
employees and to fix their compensations.

The Workshop shall be open for the training, labor and manufac-
tures to all Blind citizens of Maryland over 18 years of age, who can
give satisfactory evidence of character and of their ability to do the
work required of them.

It is the official commission appointed by the State for all matters
pertaining to the Adult Blind of the State.

Chapter 441, 1912, provides for a Board of seven directors—four
to be appointed by the Governor and three to be selected by the four
so appointed. The three members selected by other members of the
Board are as follows:
