MARYLAND COMMISSION ON THE NEW SWEDEN
TERCENTENARY.
(Senate Resolution 9.)
This commission was appointed in accordance with the provisions
of Senate Resolution No. 9 of the Special Session of 1937, in order
that Maryland might participate in the observance of the Three Hun-
dredth Anniversary of the First Permanent Settlement of Swedish
Colonists in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Governor
was requested by the resolution to appoint seven citizens of this State
to represent officially, the people of the State at the ceremonies com-
memorating said anniversary, the members of the commission to serve
without compensation.

COMMITTEE FOR INVESTIGATION OF RULES AND REGULA-
TIONS RELATING TO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN
MARYLAND.
(Senate Resolution 1 - Special Session of 1937.)
Recognizing the lack of uniformity in the laws relating to the
licensing and regulation of the manufacture, sale and distribution
of alcoholic beverages in this State, this resolution was adopted by the
Senate and the Governor was requested thereby to appoint a Committee
consisting of five persons, one to represent the State Law Department,
one the State Comptroller, and three to represent the public at large,
no one interested in any way in the manufacture or sale of alcoholic
beverages being eligible for appointment on the committee, to make
a careful investigation and study of said laws and regulations, includ-
ing license fees and taxes, and to report to the Governor and the
General Assembly on or before January 15, 1939, with such recommen-
dations as the Committee might deem desirable, with drafts of pro-
posed legislation.
