years he has served as Treasurer, is now Vice-President and
also a director of the Peninsula General Hospital at Salis-
bury, and is now President and a Director of the John B.
Parsons Salisbury Home for the Aged.

During the World War Mr. Gordy took an active part in
his local community in all movements.Liberty Loan drives,
Red Cross work and other organized war activities.

In September, 1921, he was nominated by the Democratic
State Convention for Comptroller of the Treasury, and was
elected in November of that year. He was renominated in
September, 1923, and re-elected in November for a term of
three years.

In September, 1926, he was again nominated, and re-
elected in November, 1926, for a term of four years.

In September, 1930, Mr. Gordy was renominated, and in
November, 1930, he was re-elected for another term of four
years.

Mr. Gordy was a Delegate to the Democratic National Con-
ventions in 1928, 1932 and 1936.

In September, 1934, Mr. Gordy was renominated and in
November, 1934, he was re-elected for another term of four
years.

LEGAL HOLIDAYS IN MARYLAND

The following days in each and every year, namely, the
first day of January, commonly called "New Year's Day";
the 22nd day of February, known as "Washington's Birth-
day"; the 25th day of March, known as "Maryland Day";
"Good Friday"; the first Monday in September, commonly
called "Labor Day"; the 30th of May, commonly called "Dec-
oration Day"; the 4th of July, called "Independence Day";
the 12th of September, known as "Defenders' Day"; the
12th day of October, known as "Columbus Day"; the 11th
day of November, known as "Armistice Day"; the 25th day
of December, called "Christmas Day"; and all days of gen-
eral and congressional elections throughout the State.

All special days that may be appointed or recommended
by the Governor of this State or the President of the United
States as the days of thanksgiving, fasting and prayer or
other religious observance, or for the general cessation of
business.
Sundays.

Whenever any one of the above days falls on Sunday, the holiday is observed on
the following Monday.
