CHAP.    CXIII.

Wool.

    ' WHere exporting of Wool is Felony.  See Stat. 14 Car. 2. c. 18. and here
' cap. Felony by Statute.

    §. 2.
Persuing

in order to
Transporting.
    ' No person shall press together with Screws, Presses, or other Engins,
' into any Sack, Bag, Pack, or other Wrapper; or Put, Press, Pack or Stain,
' any Wool or Yarn made of Wool into any Cask or Vessel, or shall lay
' or carry, or cause, &c. at or near the Shore or Coasts of the Sea or navigable
' River, any Wool, Wool-flocks, or Yarn made of Wool; with an
' intent to convey the same out of England or Ireland into Scotland or
' any foreign parts, upon pain to lose the same or the value thereof.

    §. 3.
Times of
Carriage.
    ' No Bags, Sacks, Packs or Cask of Wool, Wool-sells, Mortlings, Sherlings,
' Yarn made of Wool, Wool-flocks, Fullers earth, Fulling-clay or Tobacco
' pipe clay, shall be carryed or conveyed to or from any place or places
' in England, but from the first of March to the 24th of September, between
' four of the Clock in the Morning and eight of the Clock in the
' Evening, and from the 29th of Sept. to the first day of March, between
' seven of the clock in the Morning and five of the Clock in the Evening,
' upon penalty of forfeiture thereof.
    §. 4.
Forfeitures.
    ' The moiety of all Forfeitures by this Act to the King, the other to the
' Prosecutor.
    ' Justices of Peace in their Quarter Sessions may hear and determine
' Offences against this Act. 14 Car. 2. c. 18.
    ' The exporting, transporting, carrying or conveying of any the Goods,
' Wares or Commodities mentioned in that Act is declared a common Nusance.

Words, News.

    ' JUstices of Peace may by virtue of their Commission take Cognizance,
' and punish evil Words, for they tend to the breach of the Peace,
' especially if spoken against any publick Person or Officer; And therefore
' of one say of a Mayor in the execution of his Office, that he is a
' Fool, an Indictment lies:  But say of a Mayor playing at Dice, that he is
' a Fool, no Indictment lies.  Bag's Case, M. 12 Jac. Rolls. Rep. part. 2. p. 79.
