By resolution of the General Assembly of 1894, the Gov- ernor is authorized to designate by proclamation one day in April, annually, for tree planting, to be known as “Arbor and Highway Day.” REPUDIATION DAY. The General Assembly of 1894 made November 23rd a bank half-holiday in Frederick county, under the title of “Repudiation Day,” in commemoration of the repudiation of the Stamp Act in 1765. GENERAL PULASKI MEMORIAL DAY. By Joint Resolution No. 5 of the General Assembly of 1931, the Governor is authorized to proclaim October 11th of each year as Pulaski Day, in commemoration of the death of General Casimir Pulaski. REPUBLIC OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA DAY By Joint Resolution No. 3 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1935, the Governor is directed to proclaim October 28th of each year for the observance and commemoration of the founding of the Republic of Czecho- slovakia. REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA DAY By Joint Resolution No. 8 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1935, the Governor is directed to proclaim February 16th of each year for the observance and commemoration of the founding of the Republic of Lithuania. |
