Report On Improvements To The Maryland House Of Correction

During the fiscal year ending September 30, 1930 the north cell wing,
which was built in 1874, was entirely rebuilt providing for a chapel and
recreation room seating 1,000 inmates and two additional floors for
dormitories with beds for 260 inmates.

The top floor in the center of the prison under the main tower, which
was also constructed in 1874, and which had been used as a chapel, was
remodeled as a dormitory, supplying beds for about sixty inmates. These
improvements are fireproof and cost approximately $260,000.00.

Improvements to the Power Plant cost about $35,000.00, enlarging
the sewerage system cost $10,00000, and a new water supply line cost
approximately $40,000.00. (The water supply line was necessitated due
to the drought this past summer.)
