the residue, giving one-half to the officer and those who assisted
him in making the arrest and seizure, and the other to the
county commissioners, for the benefit of the school fund for said
county; if resistance be made to any officer in making such
arrest or seizure, such resistance shall be deemed a misde-
meanor, punishable by indictment in the Circuit Court for the
county.

WITNESSES.

213. Each witness residing in Talbot county who shall be
summoned to attend the Circuit Court for said county, shall be
entitled to receive seventy-five cents for each day he shall attend
said court, and five cents a mile for every mile his place of resi-
dence shall be distant from the place of holding said court, to be
computed for each day's attendance.

214. The clerk of said court shall make out and report a list
of the witnesses summoned to attend said court, with the dis-
tance each witness resides from the place of holding the same,
to the county commissioners of said county, to enable the com-
missioners to levy the per diem and mileage of such witnesses.

WOOD OOKDEB IN ST. MICHAEL'S.

215. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the
Senate, shall biennially appoint a wood corder for the town
of Saint Michael's, in Talbot county, whose duty it shall be
to measure and inspect all firewood offered for sale in said
town.

216. He shall measure, cord and inspect, in the same manner,
and subject to the same rules and regulations as are prescribed
for the inspection of wood in the city of Baltimore, and shall be
entitled to demand six and a quarter cents for each cord of wood
inspected by him, to be paid by the seller.

WOOD CORDEB AT EASTON POINT.

217. The Governor- shall biennially appoint a suitable person
corder of wood at Easton Point, Talbot county, whose duty it
shall be to measure and inspect all firewood brought to said
Point for sale, agreeably to the rules and regulations prescribed
for the cording of firewood in the city of Baltimore.
