SCHOOLS.

142. The Orphans' Court of Prince George's comity shall be
commissioners of the school fund for said county.

143. The Treasurer of Maryland shall pay to the order of the
Orphans' Court for said county the proportion of the school fund
to which said county may be entitled.

144. The said Orphans' Court shall annually, on or before the
first day of January, report to the General Assembly the manner
in which said county's proportion of the school fund has been
appropriated.

145. They may loan out said school fund in such sums, upon
such time and security as they may think best, provided no loan
exceed five hundred dollars to any one borrower.

146. The county commissioners of said county shall annually
levy, to the order of the trustees of the primary schools for said
county, such sum as may be necessary to pay the annual salaries
of teachers of said schools.

147. They shall annually, at the time of making the county
levy, appoint nine discreet, sensible and prudent citizens, one
from each election district of said county, members of a board
of trustees of primary schools.

148. The trustees so appointed shall contract for the erection
and repair, and furnishing, of school houses in the different dis-
tricts, and may condemn for the public use any land on whioh to
erect the same.

149. They may draw upon the Orphans' Court for any sum
or sums necessary for the payment for land condemned by them,
the erection, repair and furnishing of school houses; and upon
the said court and the collector of county taxes for the salaries
of teachers of the different schools.

150. They may make such by-laws as they may think neces-
sary for the government of the schools in said county. '

151. The taxable inhabitants of the several school districts
and the patrons of schools therein, shall meet annually on the
