house, and all such officers and servants as they may think
proper.

11. They, or the executive committee under their direction,
shall purchase sufficient beds, bedding, working tools, kitchen
utensils, cows, horses, and all other necessaries for the said alms-
house, from time to time; shall keep a regular account thereof,
and shall, under a penalty of fifty dollars each, render the same,
with the vouchers therefbr, to the county commissioners at their
first meeting in the month of May, in each year; and the said
accounts shall be passed and settled by the said commissioners
previous to making the appointment of trustees for the ensuing
year.

12. No trustee shall furnish on his own account any supplies
of any description to said alms-house; and any supplies furnished
by a trustee on his account shall, on proof of the fact to the
county commissioners, be forfeited for the benefit of the alms-
house.

13. They shall require the overseer to enter into bond, with
sufficient securities, in the penalty of five hundred dollars, pay-
able to the said trustees, for the faithful performance of the duties
of his office.

14. The overseer shall keep a list of all persons committed to
said alms-house, and an account of all materials which may come
to his hands; of all expenses and charges for maintenance and
all money received by him from the sale of the produce of their
labor; of the stock, farming utensils and other things in his
hands, with a statement of the crops made on the estate, and
render the same annually to the trustees, under oath, to be
administered by one of said trustees; and the trustees shall lay
the same before the county commissioners.

15. The said overseer shall receive a salary not exceeding two
hundred and twenty-five dollars per annum, and so pro rataduring
his continuance in office.

16. He may compel any of the inmates of said alms-house to
work and labor, if of sufficient ability, and shall account for the
produce of their labor.
