ALMS-HOUSE.

SECTION 1. The trustees of the poor, in Montgomery county,
are a body corporate, with power to sue and be sued, by the
name of the trustees of the poor of Montgomery county, and by
that name may take and hold any gift, donation or present,
which may be given, devised, or bequeathed to them for the
support and maintenance of the poor in said county, and may
purchase and hold any lands and tenements not exceeding the
yearly value of fifteen hundred dollars; and they may have and
use a common seal, and may change and alter the same at
pleasure,

2. The said trustees, or a majority of them, shall, in the first
week in November, annually, elect an inhabitant of said county,
trustee, in the -place of the oldest in time of service of the said
trustees, who shall thereupon be discharged from his office.

3. As often aa any one of the said trustees shall die or remove
out of the county, or become incapable of acting, the remaining
trustees, or the majority of them, shall choose an inhabitant of
aaid county, as trustee, in his place.

4.. The person elected trustee, shall, before acting as such,
take before some other of the said trustees, the following oath:

" I, A. B., do swear that I will duly and faithfully discharge the
duties and trusts committed to me as trustee of the poor, for
Montgomery county, according to the best of my skill and
knowledge, so help me God."
