BRIDGE AT CHESTEBTOWN.
81. The county commissioners of Queen Anne's and Kent
counties may, in their discretion, contract, either directly or by
agent, with the president and directors of Chester River Bridge
Company, for the passage of the citizens of Queen Anne's and
Kent counties respectively, their servants, wagons, carts, car-
riages and effects across said bridge, on such terms and con-
ditions, and with such limitations as the contracting parties
may agree upon, and may renew said contract from time to
time as the same may expire; and the said commissioners may
levy on the assessable property of their respective counties the
sum necessary to comply with the said contract; Provided, the
same shall not exceed the clear yearly sum of six hundred
dollars for each county.
32. The contract made under the preceding section, shall be
signed by the officers of the said bridge company, or by an agent
or attorney by them duly authorized, on the one part, and by the
clerk of each of the said county commissioners, or by an agent or
attorney appointed by the said county commissioners, on the
other part, and a duplicate thereof filed in the office of the clerk
of the Circuit Court of each of said counties, and no contract shall
be made for a longer period than five years at one time.
33. The county commissioners of each of said counties, after
the first year of such agreement, may levy in advance, and pay
on the first day of January in each year, the sum agreed to be
paid to said bridge company to secure them the means of making
their usual dividend.
34. The said bridge company may dispense with the footway
and use the whole width of the bridge as a carriage and cart way.
CHESTERTOWN.
35. The citizens of Chestertown in Kent county, of twenty-one
years of age and upwards, and who shall have resided in Chester-
town, or the precincts thereof, one whole year next preceding
the day of election, shall annually, on the fourth Monday in May,
elect seven persons of lawful age, each of whom shall be the
owner of property in said town in his own right, or in right of
his wife, and shall reside therein, commissioners for said town,
and the persons so elected, by the name of " The Oommissionera
