tion, and shall also appoint the necessary clerks of said election,
and the judges and clerks shall qualify in the same manner as
judges and clerks of election are required by law to qualify, and
shall in the execution of their respective duties and in the man-
ner of conducting elections, conform in every respect to the pro-
visions of article thirty-five of the code, and shall be subject to
the same penalties as other judges and clerks of elections in this
State.

32. The mayor, recorder and aldermen shall designate the
place of holding elections, and the polls shall be kept open from
nine o'clock in the morning until six o'clock in the evening, and
the returns shall be made to the mayor, recorder and aldermen,
and recorded among their proceedings.

83. All persons qualified to be delegates to the General
Assembly shall be eligible as mayor, recorder and aldermen.

34. In case of the death, refusal, disqualification or removal
of the mayor out of the limits of the city, the recorder and
aldermen for the time being shall elect a mayor for the residue
of the term.

35. In case of the death, refusal, disqualification, resignation
or removal out of the city of an alderman, the board of aldermen
for the time being shall elect an alderman for the residue of the
term.

36. The mayor shall qualify as directed by section six of article
sixty-eight of the code: the aldermen, recorder, and judges and
clerks of election, and all other officers of the city, shall, before
they enter upon the duties of their respective offices, take and
subscribe before the mayor the following oath: " I do solemnly
swear that I will faithfully execute the office of -- to the best
of my knowledge and ability, without favor, affection or par-
tiality."

37. The mayor, recorder and aldermen shall hold their first
session, in Annapolis, on the second Monday in April; and shall
meet on the second Monday in each month thereafter; but the
mayor may summon them to convene whenever and as often as
it may appear to him that the interests of the city require their
deliberations; and a majority of the aldermen shall be a quorum
to do business, but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day.
