452 CECIL COUNTY. [ART. 8.

LUMBER INSPECTORS.

101. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate, shall biennially appoint fifteen measurers, markers
and inspectors of lumber and shingles for the village of Port
Deposit, and two for the village of Perryville, and one for the
town of Ohesapeake City.

102. The persons so appointed shall be residents of the State
of Maryland, and shall each be entitled to appoint one deputy,
who shall also be residents of the said State.

103. The said inspectors shall in their inspections be governed
by the laws, rules and regulations prescribed for the inspection
of such lumber in the city of Baltimore.

104. They shall be entitled to demand and receive twenty-five
cents for measuring, marking, or inspecting every thousand feet
of lumber, reduced measure, and twelve and a half cents for
every thousand shingles, one-half to be paid by the purchaser
and the other half by the seller.

105. Whenever any person may want his lumber or shingles
measured, marked and inspected, he shall notify one of the
measurers, markers and inspectors, who shall immediately pro-
ceed to measure, mark and inspect the same.

106. No person shall be compelled to have his lumber measured,
marked and inspected, but any person desiring it shall have it
done by the duly appointed inspectors or their deputies, and no
other person.

107. The measurers, markers and inspectors for Port Deposit,
and their deputies, shall have jurisdiction and may measure,
mark and inspect lumber and shingles in the waters of the
Susquehanna River, opposite said town, and as far down as
Herring Eun.

108. The limits of the town of Perryville, for the purpose of
such inspection, shall extend from the north side of the railroad
depot along the Susquehanna River to a tract of land called Eich
Hill.
