70*. If the president or register of said Board of Commissioners
of Public Schools shall embezzle or wilfully misapply any moneys
subject to the order of said board, they and each of them shall be
guilty of felony, and upon conviction thereof be punished by con-
finement in the penitentiary for not less than two nor more than
five years.

71*. The judges of the Orphans' Court of Calvert county shall
be and they are hereby directed and required to deposit in the
Farmers' Bank of Maryland, subject to the order of the Board
of School Commissioners, the balance, if any, of such school fund
as may have be«n received by them from the Treasurer of this
State and not distributed in said county, and the said board of
commissioners are required to apply the same to purposes of edu-
cation in said county, or invest the same in such manner as to
them may seem advisable.

SHERIFF.

72. The sheriff of Calvert county shall receive thirty cents a
day for keeping and boarding prisoners in jail.

SWINE.

78. No swine belonging to the inhabitants of Lower Marl-
borough, in Calvert county, shall be suffered to go at large in
said town; and if any person shall find any such swine going at
large in said town, he may kill the same.

74. If any person shall be sued for killing any such swine
going at large, he may plead the general issue and give the
special matter in evidence.

TAXES.

75. Where there is no personal property on the land lying in
Calvert county belonging to any person not residing therein, for
the payment of taxes, the collector or deputy collector may sell
a sufficient quantity of timber suitable for cord wood or fence
rails, in one parcel, growing on the same acre or contiguous
acres of the land, to pay such taxes.

76. The collector or deputy collector, before making such sale,
shall give notice in some newspaper published in the District of
