equitable title, interest and estate of the owners of said property,
estate and interest in the same thus valued, as fully as it had been
held by the owners of the same; and the valuation, if not received
when tendered, may at any time thereafter be received without
interest by the said owners, or his or their legal representatives.

649. If the twenty jurors summoned as hereinbefore directed
shall not appear at the time and place appointed, the sheriff or
his deputy shall forthwith summon other freeholders of the city,
qualified as before directed, to make up the said jury to the
number of twelve.

650. The jurors summoned and attending shall be allowed one
dollar per day for their services; the sheriff shall be allowed the
same fees as for summoning jurors to the Superior Court, and
two dollars a day for each day he or his deputy shall attend upon
such inquisition, and such expenses shall bo paid by the mayor
and city council, except in cases of objection to tho confirmation
of the inquisition, when the costs in said court may be awarded
in the discretion of the court.

651. The mayor and city council may levy and collect all the
costs, damages and expenses awarded as aforesaid.

MILITIA.

652. All able-bodied white male citizens between the ages of
twenty-one and forty-five years, residents of the city of Balti-
more, except the Vice-President of the United States, the mem-
bers of both Houses of Congress and their respective officers, the
judges of the Circuit Court, Criminal Court, Court of Common
Pleas and Superior Court, and the clerks of those courts, the
judges of the Court of Appeals and the clerk of that court, the
Commissioner of the Land Office, the Eegisters of Wills, the mem-
bers of the Legislature of the State and their clerks, whilst in
session, the professors and masters of all colleges and public
schools, school-masters and practising physicians, all custom-
house officers with their clerks, all post-officers and stage-drivers
who are employed in the care and conveyance of the mail of the
post-office of the United States, all ferrymen employed at any
ferry on the post-road, all inspectors of exports, all pilots, all
mariners actually employed in the sea service of any citizen or
merchant within the United States, all mariners actually engaged
in the coasting trade from one State to another, the Treasurer
