regulations prescribed by this law for the government of the
said judges, and of the sheriff, or his deputy as aforesaid, in re-
ference to jurors, shall apply to all grand or petit jurors to be
thereafter selected and summoned for the said city during the
year aforesaid; and the jury books hereinbefore directed to be
prepared shall be corrected and certified by the said judges as
corrected, and be preserved as hereinbefore directed.

615*. All special juries authorized by law to be summoned,
shall be summoned by the sheriff of Baltimore city, from those
whose names may be inscribed in the jury book as then revised.

616*. If any sheriff of Baltimore city, or any deputy thereof,
shall wilfully violate the provisions of this article relating to
juries, the said sheriff shall forfeit the sum of one thousand dol-
lars, which shall be recovered by civil action in the name of the
State against the sheriff and the sureties on his bond, in that be-
half; and one-half of the penalty shall be paid to the informer,
who shall be a competent witness.

617*. Any two of the judges named in section 601 of this arti-
cle may constitute a quorum at any meeting held under the pro-
visions of this article, and may exercise all the powers hereby
reposed in the said judges.

618*. In all criminal cases in which the person indicted has or
may have the right of peremptory challenge, the State's Attor-
ney shall have the right to challenge peremptorily any number of
jurors not exceeding five.

JUSTICES OF THE PEACE AND CONSTABLES.

619. There shall at each general election for delegates to the
General Assembly be elected for the several wards of the city of
Baltimore, by the legal and qualified^ voters thereof respectively,
the following number of justices of the peace and constables,
that is to say: for ward number one, two justices of the peace
(one to reside in Canton) and four constables; for ward number
two, two justices of the peace and two constables; for ward
number three, one justice of the peace and two constables; for
ward number four, one justice of the peace and two constables;

for ward number five, one justice of the peace and two con-
stables ; for ward number six, one justice of the peace and two
"constables; for ward number seven, one justice of the peace and
