264 CITY OF BALTIMORE. [ART. 4.

more city, and shall cause all the names selected by the judges,
as aforesaid, to be inscribed upon ballots, which shall be folded
and placed in a box prepared for that purpose. And the said
judges shall cause the sheriff,, of Baltimore city or such one of
his deputies as he shall designate to appear before them; and it
shall be the duty of the said sheriff, or of his said deputy as
aforesaid, in the presence of the said judges, or in the presence
of such other persons as may choose to attend in said court,
to draw one by one all the ballots contained in the said box; and
as the said ballots are. drawn, the names appearing thereon shall
be duly recorded by the said judges, or by some person under
their direction in the order in which they are drawn.

604*. The twenty-three names first drawn shall constitute the
grand jury for the city of Baltimore for the ensuing term of the
Criminal Court of said city.

605*. The twenty-five names next in order on the said list
shall constitute the jurors for the Superior Court for Baltimore
city for the three weeks to ensue after the commencement of the
next term of the said court.

606*. The twenty-five names next in order on the said list
shall constitute and be the jurors for the Court of Common Pleas
for the three weeks to ensue after the commencement of the next
term of the said court.

607*. The twenty-five names next drawn on the said list shall
constitute and be the jurors for the Criminal Court of Baltimore
for the three weeks to ensue after the commencement of the next
term of the said court.

608*. After all the names in the box are drawn, it shall be the
duty of the said judges to cause the names of the said several panels
and the names of the other persons drawn us aforesaid to be en-
tered in five several books, in the order in which the said panels and
the names as aforesaid were drawn as aforesaid; and the said books
shall be certified by the said several judges to be true copies of each
other; and shall be denominated jury books for Baltimore city.

609*. When the said jury books are prepared and certified, as
directed in the foregoing section, it shall be the duty of the said
judges, or a majority of them, to cause one of the said books to
be deposited in the custody of the clerk of the Superior Court of
