tobacco contrary to the provisions of this section, or shall load
any tobacco on board any vessel for exportation contrary
thereto, he shall forfeit and pay five hundred dollars for every
such offence, to be recovered in any court of this State, one-
half to the informer, and the other half to the State for the use
of the tobacco fund.

507*. No captain of a ship or other vessel, taking in tobacco
for exportation, shall receive any on board of his ship or vessel
without a manifest signed by the lessee of the warehouse whence
the same was brought; and no lessee shall sign any such manifest
until the inspection of the tobacco manifested shall be certified
to him by the inspector of his warehouse, or, in his absence, by
some other inspector; and the captain of the ship or vessel,
upon his clearing out, shall deposit the original manifest with
the collector of the port from which he sails, and shall make
oath that no more tobacco from any part of the State of Mary-
land has been received on board than what is expressed in said
manifest.

508*. It shall be lawful to break up any hogshead of tobacco which
has been previously inspected agreeably to law, and to repack said
tobacco in parcels of any size, and export the same by water; and
when such parcels are to be shipped for exportation, the captain
of the ship or vessel in which the same is to be shipped may re-
ceive the same, if the quantity contained in such parcels does not
exceed in weight that set forth in the original manifest of the
hogshead from which the same has been taken and repacked.

509*. Any captain of a vessel who shall take into his vessel
for exportation any parcels of tobacco less than a hogshead,
shall, when he deposits with the "United States collector the
original manifests of said tobacco, make oath that he believes
said parcels to contain no greater quantity than that set forth
in the said manifests.

510*. Every inspector shall uncase and break every hogshead
of tobacco, or cause the same to be done by the lessee of the
warehouse where the same may be, at the expense of such lessee,
in his presence, in not less than five different places; and if the
inspector shall be of the opinion that such tobacco is sound, clear
and in good order, condition and merchantable, he shall cause the
same to be weighed by the lessee or his clerk, in his presence, in
scales with weights of the proper standard, and shall cause the
