from other States have not ten hoops on them; Provided, such
barrels have at least six broad hoops thereon.

353. Flour inspected in Frederick city or Williamsport shall
not be subject to inspection in the city of Baltimore.

GAUGES OF CASKS AND INSPECTOR or DOMESTIC DISTILLED
LIQUORS.

854. Every free white citizen of the State of Maryland, on
application to the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas in Balti-
more city, and on paying one hundred and fifty dollars to said
clerk, shall be entitled to receive a license to act as ganger of
casks and inspector of liquors, for the term of one year from the
date thereof

355. The person applying for such license shall, at the time of
receiving the same, take and subscribe before said clerk an oath
that he will honestly and faithfully discharge the duties of said
office.

856. No person engaged in vending or trading in or manufac-
turing casks or liquors, individually or as partner, or as agent,
clerk or employee of a trader, vendor or manufacturer of said
articles, or either of them, shall be entitled to a license to act as
ganger of casks and inspector of liquors.

357. Any person may sell, export or otherwise .dispose of any
foreign or domestic liquors in casks, without having the same
gauged or inspected by a licensed' inspector, but in cases of dif-
ference between the buyer and seller as to the quantity and
quality, either party may call in an inspector and ganger, and
his judgment shall bind the parties.

358. The ganger and inspector so licensed shall, upon request,
gauge all rum, wine, molasses, or other liquid merchandise im-
ported, brought or put in any butt, tun, pipe, hogshead, barrel
or other cask in said city, and he shall mark and set down the
true number of gallons which each cask or vessel will truly
contain, with his own mark; all which casks, with their true
•marks, and numbers and owners' names, shall be entered in a
book or books to be kept for that purpose by the said ganger
and inspector; for a copy of which entry the said ganger and
