shall accept their services, the regiment or battalion to which
they belong shall be exempt from draught for that year.
34. The said order shall be transmitted by the adjutant gene-
ral in duplicate, one copy thereof by mail directly to the com-
manding officer of the battalion or regiment from which the
draught is to be made, and the other copy to the brigadier gene-
ral to whose brigade such battalion or regiment belongs, who shall
safely and immediately transmit the same to the commanding
officer of such battalion or regiment, and forthwith report by
mail to the adjutant general that he has so transmitted the
same.
35. Bach commandant of each regiment and battalion from
which a draught is ordered to be made, shall summon the com-
manding officers of the companies of his battalion or regiment to
meet him at a suitable place within ten days after he shall re-
ceive such order, when and where he shall by lot draught, at the
hour appointed, a company out of the whole number of persons
subject to said draught, and make duplicate lists of the persons
who shall be draughted, and transmit one of said lists by mail
immediately to the adjutant general, and shall deliver the other
without delay to the brigadier general from whom he received
the order to make said draught.
36. The persons who shall be draughted shall be notified
thereof, and shall perform at any time within a year from the
date of said draught in case of need, a tour of duty of three
months, to be computed from the day on which they shall be
called into service, and such other duties as are herein directed.
37. The Governor shall select, appoint and commission from
the district militia officers of each regiment or battalion, one
captain and two lieutenants to command each company of infan-
try and riflemen; one captain and two lieutenants to command
each company of artillery, and one captain and two lieutenants
to command each troop of cavalry that shall be draughted as
aforesaid.
38. The companies that shall be draughted in any county
shall be arranged by the Governor into battalions, squadrons and
regiments, and from among the field officers of the district
militia of such county the Governor shall select, appoint and
commission one major to command each squadron or battalion,
