292 FEES OF OFFICERS. [ART. 38,

For examining every certificate of survey of one hundred

acres or under, . . . . . . . . 1 53

For one hundred acres to two hundred acres, . . . 1 92
For two hundred acres to three hundred acres, . . 2 00
For every hundred acres above three hundred acres, . 10
For every certificate of re-survey, whether made up of one

or more tracts of one hundred acres, . . . . 2 50

From one to two hundred acres, . . . . . 2 90

From two hundred acres to three hundred acres, . . 8 10
For every hundred acres above three hundred acres, . 16

CONSTABLES.

12*. The several constables in this State shall be entitled to
demand and receive the following fees, to wit:

For serving State warrant and return, .... 50

For serving summons in civil suit and return ... 33
For serving summons for witness and return, ... 16
For scire facias and return, ...... 33

For inflicting stripes agreeably to a judgment of a justice

of the peace, ......... 50

For delivering a person committed over to the jailer, . 50
And five cents per mile for every mile he may have to

travel after the first five miles.

For dispersing tumultuous meetings of negroes, per year,
such sum as the county commissioners may think proper,
not exceeding . . , , . . . . 8 00

For taking up runaways, the several sums required by the

law relating to runaway negroes.

For levying fieri facias and return, . . . . 12 1/2
For summoning jury of inquest, for each juror, . . 12 1/2
For levying attachment for contempt, .... 50

For summoning and swearing appraisers on distress of
rent, .......... 50

For poundage fees on any attachment or execution, seven
* and a half per cent, on the first twenty-six dollars and
sixty-six cents, and three per cent, on the residue; but
if the defendant shall supersede the judgment on which
the attachment or execution shall have issued within
four days after the same shall have been levied or
served, the constable shall only be entitled to receive
one-third said poundage fees.

For killing dog found killing sheep, to be paid by the
