CHAP. 7.  What sort of persons shall be justices of peace, and what their charge
is to do.

    The first part of this statute cannot be said to have been literally in force in the province, although
the appointments may have been made of the most sufficient men.  The last part, to wit:  that the said
justices should be sworn duly, without favor, to keep and put in execution all the statutes and ordinances
touching their offices, appears to have been of a general nature, and this was the first statute
by which an oath by justices of peace was directed.  See the note on 18 Edw. 3, Stat. 4.

not necessary that it should now be incorporated, &c.
