578 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 29,

Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city, submitted the following order:

Ordered, That leave of absence on professional business be
granted for this day to Mr. Mullen, of Baltimore city.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Biddison submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Thomas Maynard have 10 days leave oi
absence to visit his family, in Frederick.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Jordan submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Henry S. Davis and J. W. Harden have
leave of absence from this day to Monday evening next.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Loker submitted the following order:

Ordered, That leave of absence be granted A, G. Chap-
man for this day.

Which was adopted,
On motion of Mr. Hall,

Leave was granted to the Allegany delegation to introduce
a bill to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Allegany county to levy a certain sum of money for Daniel
Duncan, late Sheriff of Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Biddison,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to amend the charter of the Carrollton
Avenue Company.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following House
bill,

Endorsed, " Passed by yeas and nays:"

A hill entitled an Act to authorize Betsy A. White, guar-
dian, to settle with her ward, David A. White, of Wicomico
county.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County
Commissioners of Allegany county to improve a road running
from. Green Ridge on the National Turnpike to Twigg's
Lock on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays, with proposed
amendment."
