The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 3, 9,16,
17, and 87, of Article 73, of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to the Maryland Penitentiary, and to substitute in
lieu of sections 3, 9, 16, 17 and 87, the following.

Which was read a second time, and ordered to he engrossed
for a third reading.

The hill entitled an Act to incorporate a company to build
a turnpike road from Pipe Creek through Middleburg to
Taneytown, in Carroll county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 28 and 29 of
Article 56 of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-
enact the same with amendments so as to read as follows,

Being upon a second reading,
On motion of Mr. McElroy,

The further consideration thereof was postponed and the
bill made the order of the day for Monday, 2nd of March.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor of the
State of Maryland to purchase of the city of Baltimore the
property known as the Baltimore City College for the use of
the State Normal School,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to amend and re-enact the 86th
and 87th sections of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws, entitled "Auctions,"

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

On motion of Mr. Biddison,
The rules were suspended, and

The House proceeded to the consideration of Senate bills
upon a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate a company to con-
struct a turnpike road from Hagerstown to Cearfoss' Cross
Roads, in Washington county,

Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows :
