Ordered, That the use of this hall be granted to the friends
of the temperance cause, on next Monday evening, to hear a
free lecture from Josephus Chaney, the celebrated "Boy
orator of Kentucky," and rival of John B. Gough.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Markland,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Markland, Blake, Pent-land,
Morse, Harig and Mullin, to introduce a bill to add to the
fourth Article of Public Local Laws the following sections :
Empowering the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to con-
struct, open, enlarge or straighten sewers within the limits
of said city, and to provide the means for the payment of the
same, and compensation for any damage to property-holders
caused by the construction, opening, enlarging or straight-
ening of any sewer within the limits of the city.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Manchester
Rail Road Company,

Being upon a third reading,

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, moved a call of the House.

On motion of Mr. Legg,
