tions of uniforms, arms, accoutrements, ammuni-
tion and military stores as he may deem proper, as
also for the safe keeping and return of all such
property, and which rules and regulations shall
have the force of law.

Salary,

Sec. 14. The General Staff of the Militia shall
consist of an Adjutant General with the rank of
Major General, and salary at the rate of $2,000 a
year, and a Quarter-master General, a Commissary
General, a Chief Engineer, a Chief of Ordnance,
an Inspector General, a Surgeon General, a Pay-
master General and Judge- Advocate General, who-
shall have the rank of Brigadier General, and
shall be appointed by the Governor, by and witii
the advice and consent of the Senate, and hold of-
fice until the appointment and qualification of
their successors, or until removed in pursuance of
the sentence of a Court Martial ; and the Governor
is hereby empowered to appoint such number of
Aides-de-Camp, with the rank of Colonel, as may
be necessary to discharge his duties as Comman-
der-in-Chief.

Transmit
general orders

Sec. 15. The duties of the Adjutant General
shall be as follows, to wit: He shall issne, sign
and transmit all general orders of the Comman-
der-in-Chief to the several officers of the military
through the proper channels, and shall keep a
record of all general and special orders and regu-
lations, and cause the same to be published when
directed ; he shall enter on record a description of
the divisions, brigades, regiments, battalions,
squadrons, batteries and companies which are or
may hereafter be formed, and every alteration
thereof, showiag the name, rank, number and
date of com mission, office and residence of each
officer and member, and shall revise said roster
annually and correct the same ; he shall make out
and issue all commissions and discharges directed
by the Comander-in-Chief, he shall prepare and

and other papers required under this Act, at the
expense of the State, and distribute the same to
