CHAPTER 372.
AN ACT to enable John James Jackson, an alien,
to hold, inherit and transmit real estate in the
State of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John James Jackson, now of
the city of Baltimore, an alien, be and he is hereby
authorized and empowered to take and receive,
hold and convey all such real estate in the State
of Maryland as may come to him by descent, de-
vise or purchase, and that he be, and he is hereby
made capable of transmitting and authorized to
transmit such real estate to his heirs or devisees as
fully and effectually, and in the same manner as
if he were by birth a citizen of this State.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 373.
AN ACT to amend the thirty-first Section of Ar-
ticle twenty-four of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Conveyancing," sub-title "Mort-
gages," by adding thereto and re-enacting the
same as amended.

SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section thirty-one of Article
twenty-four, title " Conveyancing," sub-title
" Mortgage," of the Code of Public General Laws,
be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows :
