CHAPTER 320.

AN ACT to repeal Sections Four and Thirteen, of
the Act of Assembly, passed at the January
Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, Chapter
ninety-seven, entitled "An Act to establish and
endow an Agricultural College in the State of
Maryland, and to enact the following Sections
in lieu thereof.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Sections Four and Thirteen,
of the Act of Assembly, passed at the January
Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, Chapter
ninety-seven, be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, and the following Sections enacted in lieu
thereof.

Sec. 4; And be it enacted. That the President
of the Senate shall be, ex-officio, a member of the
Board of Trustees of the Maryland Agricultural
College, in the place which the Lieutenant Gover-
nor formerly held in the said Board.

Sec. 13. And be it enacted, That a general
meeting of the stockholders of the Maryland Agri-
cultural College shall be held annually, on the
second Wednesday of April, in the City of Balti-
more, at such special hour and place as the Presi-
dent of the existing Board of Trustees may ap-
point, and one week's notice of such meeting shall
be published in two of the daily newspapers of
Baltimore, and that a meeting may be called at
any time and at any convenient place during the
interval between the said annual meetings, by the
President and Trustees, or a majority of them, or
by the stockholders owning at least one-fourth of
the whole amount of stock subscribed, upon giv-
ing thirty days' public notice of the time and place
of holding the same, by advertisement published
in one or more newspapers of general circulation
in the State ; and at all meetings of said stock-
holders one-fourth in value of said stockholders
being present in person or by written proxy, shall
constitute a quorum for the transaction of all busi-
ness ; and that if less than such quorum shall be
