appointed and constituted Trustees of the said
Western Maryland College.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Trus-
tees shall have full power and authority to appoint
one of their own number President of this Board,
who shall preside at their meetings, and during
his absence to appoint a Vice President.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the Trustees
aforesaid may receive donations or subscriptions,
and appoint proper persons for receiving the same,
to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand dollars,
for the purpose of erecting or purchasing the
necessary buildings and carrying into effect the
objects of this institution.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid
Trustees and their successors by the same name,
shall be able and capable in law to purchase, have,
hold and enjoy to them and their successors, in fee
or for any less estate, any lands, tenements, annui-
ties, pensions or other hereditament within this
State, by gift, grant, bargain, sale, alienation, en-
feoffment, devise, bequest, release or confirmation
of any person or persons, bodies politic or corpo-
rate, capable to make the same and such lands,
tenements, rents, annuities, pensions or other
hereditaments, or any less estate, rights or inter-
est of or in the same, at their pleasure, to grant,
alien, sell and transfer in such manner and form
as they shall think meet and convenient for the
furtherance oi the said College ; and also, that
they may take and receive any sum or sums of
