Width of
road.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That the width of
paid road shall not be less than forty feet of which
fifteen feet shall be a substantially made road of
stone, gravel or some other hard substance.

Toll-gate.

Sec. 13. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany shall have the right to erect one toll gate,
and they are hereby authorized to appoint a toll-
gatherer whose duty it shall be to receive of and
from all and every person or persons using said
road the tolls and rates hereinafter mentioned, and
to stop any person riding, leading or driving any
horse, cattle, sheep, hogs, wagon, cart, carriage,
sleigh, coach or any other carriage of burthen or
pleasure from passing through said gate until they
have respectively paid the same that is to say for

every score of cattle ten cents, for every score of sheep
or hogs five cents, and so in proportion for any
greater or less number of cattle, sheep or hogs ;
for every horse either being ridden or led at the
rate of one cent per mile for every mile of the road
travelled ; for every vehicle of every kind whatso-
ever at the rate of one and a-half cents per mile
for every mile of the road travelled for each horse
or other animal during the same.

Banking pro-
hibited.

Sec. 14. And be it enacted. That said Company
shall not exercise any banking privileges or issue
any paper to be used as currency.

Limit and
reservation.

Sec. 15. And be it enacted, That the said Turn-
pike shall be completed within five years from the
passage of this Act, and the General Assembly
reserves to itself the right to amend, alter or re-
peal this Act at pleasure.

In force.

Sec. 16. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
