rations.

On motion of Mr. Bond, of Calvert.

One thousand copies of the Report of the Survey of a Rail
Road Route connecting the city of Baltimore with Drum
Point on the Patuxent River, by Col. George W. Hughes,
Chief Engineer.

Were ordered to be printed.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate a company to con-
struct a turnpike or gravel road from Cereafoss' Cross Roads
in Washington county, through or near Fairview to the
Pennsylvania line.

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

Mr. Mullin, from the Committee on the Judiciary, (the
rules being suspended,) reported favorably

The Joint Resolution, requesting the Governor to issue a
Commission to the Hon. Wm. T. Hamilton, as Senator elect.

Which was read a second time.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following raes-

BY THE SENATE,

January 31, 1868.
Gentemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing that the Joint
Committee of seven, appointed to visit and examine into the
condition of all the benevolent and reformatory institutions,
which are beneficiaries of the State, be authorized and di-
rected, to visit and examine into the condition of all such
benevolent and charitable institutions which have applied or
may during the session apply to the General Assembly for
relief, or may request said committee to make such visit and
examination ; concur so far, that the visits of said committee
shall not extend to any institutions beyond the limits of the
city of Baltimore, or to those that may hereafter apply.

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Also, a bill entitled an Act to repeal section 5 of Article
GO of Public General Laws entitled Marriages, and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
