1868.] OF THE SENATE. 719

entitled State Librarian, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Library.

Also, delivered

House bill entitled a further supplement to an Act entitled
an Act to incorporate companies to make several turnpike
roads through Baltimore county, and for other purposes,
passed at the November session, 1804.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Sena-
tors from Baltimore county, Anne Arundel county and
Frederick county.

Mr. Hyland submitted the following :
To the Honorable
The General Assembly of Maryland:

The undersigned ajoint Committee, to whom was referred
the report of the joint Committee appointed by the General
Assembly at its last regular session, to meet a similar Com-
mittee appointed by the Legislature of Virginia, to adjust
the Boundary line between the two States on the Eastern
Shore, respectfully report that they have examined said re-
port and given to its recommendations a careful considera-
tion. But in as much as the end of the session is so close at
hand as to prevent your Honorable Body from giving to the
subject the deliberate attention demanded by a matter of so
much importance to the State as the definition of its Boun-
daries, they respectfully recommend that no final action be
taken at the present time, and that its further consideration
be postponed until your next session.

But as the aforesaid joint Committee have discharged their
duties with the perseverance and ability that might be ex-
pected from their high reputations, and as it is proper that
the State should pay its portion of the expenses incurred,
and as it is most important that our negotiations with Vir-
ginia on the subject should not be interrupted, we herewith
present for your favorable consideration bills for the payment
of the expenses of said Committee, and for their continuance
as a commission to adjust the said divisional line.

Respectfully submitted,
C. H. HYLAND,
W. A. SMITH,

On part of Senate.
M. A. MULLIN,
B. E. SMITH,
ROBERT H. CORBIN,
On the part of the House,
