626 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 23,

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Commissioners
of the Insane Hospital at Catonsville to receive inebriates
as patients until the hospital for inebriates proper shall be-
completed.

Which was read the first time.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,
The rules were suspended by the following vote :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Browne, Kimmel,
Biggs, Lee,
Brewer, Maddox,
Clarke, Miller,
Carroll, Parker, of Calvert,
Denson, Spates,
Earle, Snyder,
Grove, Smith,
Henkle, Walsh—18.

NEGATIVE—None.

And the bill read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 189 of Article
8 of the Public Local Laws for Cecil, county, entitled
"Sheriff," and to re-enact the same as follows :

Was taken up,
And Mr. Miller offered the following amendment :

Strike out the words "forty-five" in the 4th line of the
4th section, and insert the word fifty.

Add as section 2 :

And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

Which were adopted,

And the bill as amended passed by yeas and nays as
follows:
