The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered House bill
entitled an Act authorizing the procurement of a portrait of
his Excellency, Thomas Swann, Governor, of Maryland, and
appropriating a sum of money therefor.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on. Finance.

Also,

House bill entitled an Act giving the assent of the State
of Maryland to the purchase of a parcel of land by the Gov-
ernment of the United States, from Wm. H. Dorsey and
others, and ceding to the United States of America the juris-
diction over the site of the North West Beacon Building or
Light House, and the parcel of land thereto appurtenant in a
line with the Brewerton Channel in the Patapsco River, in
this State.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Finance.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
be paid to John de la Camp in compensation for services in
completing the maps of surveys, heretofore made by Com-
missioners appointed by the Act of 1856, chapter 220, to
trace and define the boundary line between Maryland and
Virginia.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to authorize and direct the State
Librarian to subscribe for a sufficient number of Simon J.
Martinet's Maps of Maryland to supply each public school in
the State therewith.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on the Library.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 289 of the Laws
of Maryland, passed March 22, 1867, entitled an Act to add
a new Article to the Code of Public General Laws to be en-
titled "Public Roads in Caroline and Talbot counties."

Which was read a first time and referred to Senators from
Caroline, Wicomico and Talbot.

Mr. Henkle, from the Committee on Internal Improve-
