TUESDAY, January 28, 1868.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hammond.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Clarke, Carrtfll, Den-
son, Earle, Fields, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Kimmel,
Lee, Miller, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Parker, of Wor-
cester, Spates, Snyder, Walsh, Welch—21.

Mr. Brewer presented the memorial of sundry citizens of
Montgomery county praying the continuance of the present
school system.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Clarke presented the petition of James Torrington
and twelve other citizens of Baltimore county praying the con-
tinuance of the present school system.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Snyder submitted the following :

Ordered, That one hundred additional copies of "the
report of the Commissioners appointed to prepare drafts of
General Laws relating to corporations and other purposes "
be printed for the use of the Senate.
On motion by Mr. Snyder,

Ordered to lie over.

On motion by Mr, Brewer,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled au Act to incorporate "Clarksburg
Lodge " No. 100 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

On motion "by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal the 5th section of the 60th
Article of the Public General Laws relating to marriages,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Parker, of Calvert,
Leave was granted to the Senators from Calvert and St.
Mary's counties to report a bill to increase the number of
magistrates in Calvert county.

On motion by Mr. Grove,

Leave was granted to the Committee oa Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to enact a law to punish as a misde-
