LAWS OF MARYLAND.— 1826.

Cents.

For recording or copying all plots made by surveyors, and

 

which may be filed in office, when so required either by

 

law or an individual, the same fees as are by law limited

 

and allowed to surveyors for the performance of like or

 

similar services.

 

For alphabeting every instrument, proceeding, paper, or

 

other matter, recorded in the office, and endorsing or

 

entering thereon a certificate referring to the record, for

 

every ten words and figures necessarily written for that

 

purpose, and so pro rata, 1 1/4

 

But this provision shall not be so construed as to extend to

 

any alphabets or indexes made to the dockets of actions,

 

suits or prosecutions.

 

For any other service, matter or thing, not herein before

 

particularly enumerated, and for which no specific allow-

 

ance may have been already made, the same fees as are

 

herein after prescribed and allowed to the clerks of the

 

several county courts of this state, for the like or similar

 

services, and no more.

 

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after the com-
mencement of the operation of this act, there shall be limited
and allowed to the register in chancery, the following fees,

which may arise or become due for services thereafter rendered

 

in virtue of his office, and no more, viz.

 

Cents

 

For issuing under seal of office a subpoena ad respondendum,

 

an attachment of contempt, a writ of error, an injunc-

 

tion, every execution or attachment on a decree, every

 

commission, a ne exeat, a habere facias possessionem, a

 

writ de lunatico inquirendo, a writ of sequestration, or

 

other special writ; or any other writ or process not

 

herein particularly enumerated ; for every ten words or

 

figures of any or either of them, and so pro rata, 1 1/4

 

For the docket entry of the return of any writ or process, 5

 

For filing every bill or petition, every answer or plea,

 

every demurrer, every commission and deposition, ac-

 

counts, books of account, bonds, deeds, or other papers

 

or writings referred to and made part of any bill, plea,

 

answer, or other pleadings or process thereupon, (to be

 

charged but once,) for each, 5

 

For an appearance docketed or entered of each or any in-

 

dividual party, complainant or defendant, whether in

 

proper person, or by solicitor, 5

 

For the docket entry of every continuance, or reference, of

 

a cause, to be charged to the party complainant or plain-

 

tiff only, 5
