LAWS OF MARYLAND.— 1820.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the commissioners afore-
said shall be allowed for each and every day they shall be
employed under the provisions of this act, two dollars, one-half
of which allowance to be paid by the United States, the other
moiety by the proprietor or proprietors of the lands assessed.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid,
when they shall have completed their valuation as aforesaid,
and done all other things required of them by this law, they
shall make out a copy of their proceedings, setting forth in the
same a full description of the land by them valued for the estab-
lishment of the light-house as aforesaid, together with the road
to the same, and all other matters and things connected with
the said valuation, and the performance of the duties assigned
to them by this act, and to the said copy, fairly written out, they
shall subscribe their names and thereto set their seals, and they
shall deposit the same in the office of the clerk of Baltimore
county court, and the clerk of the said court shall preserve a
record of the said proceedings, for the recording of which he shall
be entitled to the same fee which he receives for other records.

CHAPTER 48.
AN ACT for the Relief of the Sheriffs and Collectors of the several Counties
in this State.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in all cases where the sheriffs and collectors of the tax
of the several counties in this state, have heretofore failed, or
shall hereafter fail to collect moneys which they are authorized
and directed to collect, in the time limited by law, that such
sheriffs and collectors, their executors or administrators, may
apply, by petition in writing, to the judges of the county courts
of their respective counties, and the judges, by an order made
on such petition, shall have power, in their discretion, to limit
and appoint such further time to complete the collections of the
sheriffs or collectors ; and the court shall have power, from
time to time, in manner aforesaid, to extend the time of collec-
tion by the said sheriffs or collectors; and it shall be the duty
of the clerk of the county court, where such petition is filed, to
record the proceedings aforesaid, for which he shall receive from
the persons filing the petition, such fees as he receives for
recording deeds.

securities, or the survivor or survivors of them, of the said
sheriffs and collectors, to apply as aforesaid, and whenever an
application may be made by the executors or administrators,
