Preamble.
|
WHEREAS by an error in engrossing the said act of assembly,
the word 'heretofore' in the fourth section of the engrossed bill
has been inserted instead of the word 'hereafter' in the original
bill which passed both branches of the legislature ; therefore,
|
|

mitted.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said act of assembly shall have the same force and
operation, and receive the same construction, as if the said error
had not been committed, and the word 'hereafter' had been in-
serted in the fourth section of the said engrossed bill in the
place of the word 'heretofore.'

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in all criminal prosecutions against any negro or mulatto
slave, or against any mulatto descended from a white woman,
or against any negro or mulatto free or freed, the testimony of
any negro or mulatto slave, or the testimony of any mulatto,
descendant from a white woman, or the testimony of any negro
or mulatto free or freed, may be received in evidence for or
against them, any law now existing to the contrary notwith-
standing.

AN ACT to continue certain Acts of Assembly.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all and every act or acts of assembly which are limited by law
io continue to the end of the present session of assembly, or
-which would expire during the same, or before the end of the
next general assembly, be and they are hereby severally con-
tinued until the thirty-first day of October next, and until the
end of the next session of assembly, unless such as are repug-
nant to, or inconsistent with, any law which may have passed,
or may pass during the present session of assembly, and sub-
ject to any alterations which may have been made therein.
