for Worcester County.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS by the original act to which this is a supplement,
it is doubtful whether the wreckmaster is authorized to contract
with labourers, and experience has proved the necessity of such
power in the convenient execution of the said act ; therefore,

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That hereafter the wreckmaster shall be and he is hereby au-
thorized and empowered to contract with, and hire, so many
labourers as he may deem necessary to carry into effect the
purposes of the act to which this is a supplement.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the wreckmaster shall be
entitled to receive for his services, a sum not exceeding twenty
per cent, of the property saved, at the discretion of the county
court, some one of the judges thereof out of court, or of the
orphans court of the county.

CHAPTER 70.
AN ACT vesting certain powers in the President of the United States.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, a law passed the congress of the United States on
the twenty-ninth day of March, eighteen hundred and six,
directing the laying out of a road from Cumberland, on the
Potomac river, to the Ohio, and the consent of this state being
necessary to the opening the same, so far as it may run within
her limits ; therefore,

SEC. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall be lawful, and the full and entire consent of the
state of Maryland is hereby given, to the opening and improv-
ing the same, and the president of the United States is hereby
authorized to cause the said road to be laid out, opened and
improved, in such way and manner as by the before recited act
of congress is required and directed.
CHAPTER 81.
AN ACT to restrain the evil practices arising from Negroes keeping Dogs,
and to prohibit them from carrying Guns or offensive weapons.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That after the first day of May next, it shall not be lawful for
any negro or mulatto within this state to keep any dog, bitch or
